Spring 2009 Registration
It has become apparent that the technical problems with the Banner Web Registration System were far more extensive than we realized, and that approximately one-third of the 3D students who attempted to register yesterday at noon were unable to access the system. Under the circumstances, we have asked the IT staff to void all 3D registration entirely as a false start. As a result ALL 3D students will have to register again, even if you have been successful in accessing the system at any time.
Registration for ALL 3D and 2D students has been rescheduled as follows:
- 3D registration will be rescheduled for Monday, November 24th, at 8:15 a.m. Students should log-in to MySanDiego no later than 8:00am; registration will begin at 8:15am.
- 2D registration will be rescheduled for Tuesday, November 25th, at 8:15 a.m. Students should log-in to MySanDiego no later than 8:00am; registration will begin at 8:15am.
- EVE and LLM registration remains valid. The system will be available to you again by Friday morning if you need to make changes to your schedule.
Web Registration Support
While a lot of testing has been done, this is a new system and it is possible you'll find a problem we missed. To help anyone with questions or who might encounter an issue, we have a team of project staff dedicated just to Online Registration. This includes representatives from Undergrad, Grad and Law Registrar's offices as well as technical support, so we'll be available for all questions regarding the registration process. Please feel free to contact us by:

BANNER Web Registration Instructions
Below is just a quick set of instructions to make the process of web registration easier using the new BANNER student system.
1) Log into the MySanDiego portal with your normal USD username and password. https://my.sandiego.edu/cp/home/displaylogin.
2) Click on the Law Student tab. Use MySanDiego to view the course schedule, the course descriptions, the exam schedule, the clinic application procedures
etc.
3) Scroll down to the Registration Tools area. Click Add or Drop Classes at the bottom of the screen, choose the proper term and click Submit.
4) If you know the CRN(s) you want to register for, just put them in and hit Submit Changes! If you want to search for classes, please select Class Search.
5) The easiest way to search may be to select Law in the Department drop down menu OR perhaps just type "LW" (for all Law classes) in the Course Subject field at the top of the screen. Click Submit to perform the search.
6) If you see the class you want, check the box to the left of that class (or classes) and click on Register. If the class is closed you will see a "c" instead of a check box to the left of the course title.
- If you receive a message that the course you select is "Reserve Restricted" it is due to the fact that a number of seats have been reserved for special categories of students. This message indicates that the class is currently closed to additional students at this time. If these reserved seats are not utilized they will become available to additional students near the start of the Spring 2009 semester.
7) This will take you back to the Add or Drop Classes screen. This screen will show either the classes you added or any errors that you may have encountered. You will need to scroll down the screen to see any error messages.
8) Check to make sure the classes you registered for are listed as **Web Registered** on the Add or Drop Classes screen and, if so, you're done! If you do not see your courses near the top of the screen scroll down to check for error messages.
9) To Drop a class navigate to the Add or Drop Classes screen. Click on the drop down menu of the class you want to drop in the Action column. Change the action from "None" to "DROP", and click on submit changes.
- Please note, BANNER will prevent you from ever dropping your last class. If you wish to drop your last class it will have to be done in the Records Office.
- If you experience technical difficulties of any kind please contact the BLISS support team: bliss@sandiego.edu
Tuition For Non-Law Courses Taken At U.S.D.
Effective Summer 2007, tuition for all U.S.D. classes taken by law students is billed at the law school tuition rate. The former practice of billing law students at the graduate or undergraduate school rate for those courses if, when added to any law school courses, they were outside a normal tuition range, is no longer in effect. This brings the Law School into line with the rest of the University, which bills students based on their degree level and not on the level of the course.
