Meet the Associate Vice President for Human Resources

Gregory Pogue, who has extensive experience in human resources and administration in both the public and private sectors, was appointed Associate Vice President for Human Resources at USD in September of 2005.  Before coming to USD, Dr. Pogue served as Assistant Vice President for Human Resources at CSU, East Bay.  Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President for Human Resources with CDC Systems, Inc., New Jersey’s largest regional financial armored services company.  Dr. Pogue served as Vice President for Administration at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and as Director of Human Resources and Assistant Vice President for Administration at Drew University.  Dr. Pogue also served as Vice President for Human Resources at Chemical Bank of New Jersey, and with Sea-Land Services, Inc., after his graduation from college. 

Dr. Pogue earned an A.S. from Becker College in Worcester, MA, a B.S. from Nichols College in Dudley, MA, an MBA from Wagner College in Staten Island, NY, and his Doctorate from the University of Sarasota in Sarasota, FL. 

Dr. Pogue was honored as Outstanding Alumni of Nichols College for 1999 and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Becker College in Worcester, MA.  He is a former Board member of Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, NJ, and served on the Advisory Council for TIAA/CREF.  He taught business courses as an adjunct professor and has published numerous articles on a variety of human resources topics.  Dr. Pogue is also the author of the book titled, “Employee Assistance Programs on Liberal Arts Campuses”, published by University Press of America, Inc. 

During his career, while directing the administrative and human resource functions for major institutions, Dr. Pogue established a reputation for improving the bottom line, operating efficiency and employee morale.
