It is my pleasure to continue the tradition of recognizing individuals within Finance and Administration that most exemplify the moral principles of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness and social awareness. These principles, which have been formalized in the attached Code of Conduct for the Finance and Administration division, have guided how our performance will be evaluated, as members of a Catholic community dedicated to the practice of business.
Since 2003, we have presented an annual award to the employee that best exemplifies the values set forth by the Code of Conduct. The first recognition was awarded to Jeff Hardick of Facilities Management for calendar year 2004, followed by Mercedes Bennett of Student Financial Services for 2005, Brian Fogarty of Athletics for 2006 and Larry Barnett of Public Safety in 2007.
It is now time to call for prospective nominees for the 2008 Code of Conduct Award. Eligible recipients are benefit based employees with a minimum of at least one year of service in one of the following departments: Budget and Treasury, Facilities Management, Procurement Services, University Copy and Graphics, Controller (Accounting, Student Financial Services and Payroll), Auxiliary Services (Bookstore, Campus Card and Dining Services,) Mail Center, Human Resources, Public Safety, Parking and Athletics.
Nominations will be accepted thru November 14, 2008. Applications will also be available in each finance and administration department, as well as online here. It is suggested that nominations include the reason why nominees should be considered for the Code of Conduct Award as well as “real life” examples from the workplace demonstrating one or more of the Code of Conduct values.
